M’s lost @ Kingdome – July 4, 1977

The Seatttle Mariners first baseball game on July 4, was a 6-2 lost to the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox got a complete game from Francisco Berrios and back-to-back home runs from Oscar Gamble and Jim Spencer in the sixth inning, giving the White Sox a 3-1 lead.

Making his Major League debut was 2B Julio Cruz for the Mariners. Cruz went 2-for-3 in the lead-off spot. Cruz played 10 seasons in the big leagues, the last 3 1/2 years with the White Sox.

The crowd that Monday night was 10,897. The time was 2:16.
