Dec. 22, 1990 – Last time the two schools tangled.

Score: Washington 72, Minnesota 61

Site: Hec Edmundson Pavilion.

Coaches: UW – Lynn Nance; Minnesota – Clem Haskins

The Huskies improved to 7-0 on the year with the victory. Mike Hayward led UW with 20 points. Doug Meekins added 11 rebounds and nine points.
Final records: UW 5-13, 14-14, last in Pac-10; Minnesota 5-13, 12-16, second last in Big Ten.

Dec. 28, 1964 – Faced off in the Los Angeles Classic – semifinal game; only other time the two teams played on a neutral court.

Score: Minnesota 77, Washington 76

Site: Sports Arena, Los Angeles

Minnesota (ranked #3 in the country) hung on for the 77-76 victory after almost blowing a 17-point lead. UW’s Jim Hermann scored four straight points to put the Huskies one point behind, 75-74 with 1:48 to play. UW missed a chance to take the lead in the final seconds but Bob Johnson’s shot was blocked.  Golden Golpher Lou Hudson (25 points) made 2 free throws with 5 seconds remaining to ice the game.

Final records: UW 5-9, 9-16; Minnesota 11-3, 19-5.

Dec. 22, 1951 – The game was played between two nationally ranked teams.

Score: Washington 55, Minnesota 51

Site: Minnesota

#8 Washington beat the #15 Golphers 55-51. It was the UW’s seventh straight win. Bob Houbregs powered in 25 points for the winners.

Final records: UW 14-2, 25-6, first-place in Pacific Coast North, lost to UCLA in best-of-3 series, no NCAA tournament; Minnesota 10-4, 15-7
