UCLA knocked off Washington 76-64 in the first Pac-10 tournament championship game.

The top-seeded Bruins were led by Pooh Richardson and Reggie Miller.

UW’s Chris Welp led all scorers with 25 points. Washington (#3 seed) had swept UCLA 2-0 in Conference play.

Eldridge Recasner and Greg Hill had a tough time getting the ball inside and then made poor decisions on their own shots. The result was .357 accuracy from the Huskies , including a combined 7 of 22 from Recasner and Hill.

“I think we panicked a little bit,” said Hill.

“You people (media) said I’m slacking off this year,” said Miller, whose scoring average dropped nearly five points this season to 21.2. “But we’ve got 20 wins, the Pac-10 title, the tournament and I’ve got the MVP. Now we’re going to celebrate very hard, then go to Salt Lake City and raise some Cain.”
