UW’s “Easy” Ed Corell grabs 30 rebounds 50 years ago – Today

24 Feb

Today is the 50-year anniversary of Ed Corell’s 30-rebound night against the Oregon Ducks. The 30 caroms are the most ever by a Husky baller. Easy Ed, a 6-6 jr. in 1962, led UW with 23 points as they beat up the Ducks 67-49 before 4,700 fans at Edmundson Pavilion.

The DUCKS DIED in the opening minutes of the second half. They shot frequently and lost the backboards completely to Corell. – George M. Varnell, The Seattle Times.

(Most rebounds by a Husky)

Great! Always nice to have a new place to check for local sports stuff. Should get lots of traffic.

Edwin Corell was my uncle! That’s quite amazing Ed has kept the rebound record for all these years. It’s nice to know he’s still remembered. 🙂
